Chief of Staff Veterinarian Responsibilities

  • Examine, diagnose and treat small animals using labs, medication and surgery
  • Create a culture of inclusion and acceptance for patients and staff
  • Collaborative leadership with the hospital administrator
  • Represent hospital service offerings and participate in The Pet Vet-sponsored community activities
  • Maintain licenses, certifications and association memberships and meet annual continuing education requirements
  • Seek out new approaches, medicines and procedures
  • Collaborate with support staff to create an efficient and profitable practice
  • Provide supervisory and mentoring duties

Chief of Staff Veterinarian Qualifications

  • D.V.M. degree and completion of state licensing requirements (in good standing)
  • Strong communicator and mentor with solid conflict resolution skills
  • Patient; responsive to staff and clients
  • Collaborative, innovative, results-oriented, highly organized
  • Emotionally agile and able to be flexible, especially in times of growth and change
  • Open to new approaches, medicines, and procedures
  • Solid conflict resolution skills (willing to have difficult conversations) and excellent communication
  • A desire for continuing education and empirical evidence
  • Surgical experience preferred
